Action Plan for adapting the Baltic Sea Region to Climate Change

Baltadapt does not only develop a climate change adaptation strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, but also elaborates an action plan as the operational basis of its implementation. The action plan shall provide specific steps towards achieving the objectives laid out in the strategy. The partner network and the policy forum will make sure that the action plan is elaborated in close coordination with policy decision makers and in line with the implementation of the Marine Strategy Directive
The action plan shall not form a “stand-alone” programme but shall be entrenched in future operational programmes of existing initiatives in the region (e.g. the new Baltic Sea Region Programme 2014–2020, EU Framework Programme 8, LEADER, LIFE, national programmes). The input in the field of climate change adaptation is provided by the Baltadapt project, agreed with the policy forum and fed into the aforementioned programmes. In this way existing channels are used while at the same time financing sources for actions in the field of climate change adaptation are secured.
