The Secretariat of the Council of the Baltic Sea States

The Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) is an overall political forum for regional inter-governmental cooperation. The members of the Council are the eleven states of the Baltic Sea Region as well as the European Commission.
The CBSS Expert Group on Sustainable Development, Baltic 21, provides a forum for continuous dialogue among governments and stakeholders in the Baltic Sea Region on sustainable development as well as contributes to the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region and increased cooperation with Russia in the area. The Expert Group is served by the CBSS Secretariat in Stockholm.
In accordance with the CBBS Strategy on Sustainable Development, climate change is one of the four strategic areas of cooperation in the years 2010–2015.

CBSS’ role in Baltadapt

The CBSS Secretariat will organize the Policy Forum for Climate Change Adaptation which will provide guidance and recommendations in the development of the adaptation strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. Furthermore, the CBSS Secretariat is contributing to the stakeholder dialogues and helping to facilitate the endorsement of the Adaptation Strategy by the CBSS Expert Group Baltic 21 and the Committee of Senior Officials.
