Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety

With climate change as one of its key policy fields, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit, BMU) plays a very prominent role in the promotion and development of comprehensive approaches to climate change adaptation in Germany and worldwide (e.g. within the framework of its International Climate Protection Initiative). The unit participating in Baltadapt is specialised in transnational cooperation within the Baltic Sea Region.

BMU’s role in Baltadapt

BMU is contributing to Baltadapt by leading the development of an action plan for the strategy, guiding the incorporation of proposed actions in EU and national programmes, and identifying financial sources for further development.
