Aarhus University, Department of Bioscience (former NERI)

The Department of Bioscience at Aarhus University makes significant contributions to research-based public sector consultancy in the areas of environmental management of marine and terrestrial ecosystems, catchment management, and monitoring. The department provides consultancy services for the Ministry of Climate and Energy, the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Self-Government of Greenland and the European Environment Agency. Together with the Department of Environmental Science, the department will to a considerable extent handle the public sector consultancy tasks performed by NERI until now.
Aarhus University also hosts the national environmental databases and the secretariat of the National Coordination Unit for Research in Climate Change Adaptation (KFT). KFT was established by the government as a joint endeavour by Aarhus University, Danish Meteorological Institute, the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, University of Copenhagen and Technical University of Denmark. KFT collates and transfers Danish and international research and knowledge on climate change adaptation and coordinates information access at the science-policy interface.

Aarhus University's role in Baltadapt

In the Baltadapt project, Aarhus University is leading a working group identifying and reviewing current knowledge about the Baltic Sea ecosystem. Moreover, it is contributing to an integrated vulnerability assessment and to the development of the Action Plan for adapting the Baltic Sea Region to climate change.
